Driving fun with absolute precision
The latest version of the Gallardo, Lamborghini’s most successful model of all time - overall, more than 9,000 units of the model range have already been produced - boasts not only its own distinctive design and exclusive equipment, but its technology is unique too, as indicated by the model badge: the 550 stands for the power output in hp and the 2 is for rear wheel drive.
For several decades, Valentino Balboni has had a distinct influence on the character of the super sports car bearing the sign of the bull. With his fine-tuning and testing work, he has helped to shape many automotive legends, from the Lamborghini Miura of the 60s through to the current Gallardo and Murciélago models. Balboni was hired in 1967 by company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini himself. From early on, it was evident that the young Balboni had a special feel for cars, that most sensitive of all instincts that connects to the ‘life blood’ of an automobile and defines the soul of a test driver.
“A Lamborghini must always combine the precision of a race car with the reliability of a good friend,” says Balboni. Since 1973, he has sat at the wheel of every prototype built by the brand, and even most production cars have passed through his hands before being delivered to their customers. This has turned Balboni into one of the most important representatives of the brand, with an outstanding reputation and status among the brand’s fans and customers worldwide.

La configuration spéciale de la Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera Blancpain Edition montre tout l’esprit de la voiture de course. 1340 kilograms. It beats the already lean Gallardo LP 560-4 by 70 kilograms,
which gives the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale a stunning power-toweight
ratio of 2.35 kilograms per HP for breathtaking performance. It sprints
from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds and reaches 200 km/h just 10.4
seconds later. Its forward thrust finally tops out at 320 Km/h.

Other than the green, white and red stripe, the Gallardo Tricolore also sports carbon-fiber mirror caps and a white paint. “To celebrate the 150 years of Italian unity we felt that it was appropriate to propose a tri-color livery for our most succesful model, the Lamborghini Gallardo," said the company's CEO, Stephan Winkelmann. “With the Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore we give a further impulse to the development of the 'Made in Italy' label in the world."
The car will be officially introduced on March 16 in Turin, at an exhibition dedicated to the Italian state anniversary. For the time being, Lamborghini offered no technical details of the special edition model and has yet to announce the number of cars it plans to build, though our bet would go to 150."

Even more extreme, thanks to a personalized appearance
With its new Bicolore model, Lamborghini is now setting a further design highlight in the ten-cylinder model series. The colored exterior finish matched with the black on the upper area of the body gives the Gallardo a new, more aggressive personality that looks even wider, even more extreme and innately adhered to the road.
From the window-line upwards (including pillars, roof, engine hood and rear spoiler), the vehicle is decorated in Noctis Black - a pastel black that contrasts perfectly with the lower area of the body, available in a choice of five colors: Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Bianco Monocerus and Blu Caelum.
The exterior appearance is enhanced by Skorpius aluminum-alloy rims with 15 thin spokes that are forged to minimize unsprung weight and are finished in titanium gray enamel. And, the air intakes and front spoiler have a high-gloss black finish, as does the upper section of the rear diffuser.
